However, the interactions between each element in various contexts, e.g. during infection vs homeostasis, in healthy vs cancerous tissues, in young vs older individuals, are poorly defined. Understanding the context-dependent communication and interaction between key players of the immune system is crucial for harnessing the power of the immune system in dealing with infection, cancer as well as autoimmune diseases.
